Mrs. Harrington’s
CLASS PROCEDURES
Welcome! This is the time in your life where everything counts, and decisions are made that will impact you for the rest of your life. The Choice is Yours!
For our class to be a safe place of learning, it is very important that we have certain procedures that we use every time. The procedures included here give details to help you interpret the Classroom Rules. Read these carefully and begin to use them each day. Don’t worry, we will practice and rehearse each of these many times during the first few weeks of school.
CLASSROOM RULES
1. Keep hands, feet, and objects to self.
2. Bring all materials to class.
3. Respect yourself and others.
4. Follow directions first time given.
5. Raise your hand and wait to be called on.
MANNERS AND SOCIAL SKILLS
We will use please, thank you, you’re welcome, yes sir (ma’am), ladies first, etc. to teachers, guests, and each other. We will also be learning and using social skills such as praising, encouraging, and coaching others.
VISITORS IN ROOM
If a visitor enters the room, please remain quiet and respectful. If the teacher must stop teaching to speak to a visitor, continue to work unless instructed otherwise.
ENTERING THE CLASSROOM
Class begins when you enter the doorway. Please don’t enter any classroom until given permission. Enter the room quietly and calmly. Have all your materials (for your class) ready. You will be directed to be seated and quietly begin reading until you have been giving directions.
SEEKING ATTENTION OR PERMISSION
During class, please raise your hand to ask a question or gain permission:
MOVING AROUND THE ROOM
When moving around the room, please walk slowly and quietly. Keep your hands and feet off of others and avoid bumping into furniture and equipment.
CLASS SCHEDULE
The class schedule is posted in the room and on the class website. You will be notified of any changes to the schedule.
ATTENDANCE and MAKE-UP WORK
Students will follow the Districts attendance policy.
If a student is absent, please ask the teacher. Students are responsible for getting their make-up work.
INCOMPLETE WORK
Incomplete work (example: not finishing required classroom work) will be completed and turned in by the next day.
CLASS WEBSITE
A class website was designed to encourage home-school communication as well as provide you and your child at-home support. You will be able to check project due-dates, and find out about up-coming tests and events. There are also some links to useful websites you and your child may want to visit. Come in and have a look around! I hope this site will help my students and their parents stay up-to-date on their learning.
